Water is very important for chickens. During the growth and development stage in chicken cage system, certain water is given priority in summer. In winter, the water demand of chickens is relatively low. People tend to ignore the drinking water of chickens. This is not advisable. The group lacks water, but the appetite is reduced, and the egg production is reduced. In severe cases, the chickens stop laying, the chickens are thin, and finally die.
Pay attention to the following points in winter drinking water:
First, the water temperature should not be too low. Drinking too cold water can reduce the egg production rate and increase the feed consumption. The water temperature is generally 10 °C ~ 20 °C. Conditionally, a large container can be placed in the chicken house to release water to raise the temperature of the water.
Second, the amount of water in the sink should not be too much for the water in the sink to avoid frostbite in the body. For flat chicken houses, the drinking trough must have means to prevent the chicken from entering the trough.
Third, ensure that the drinking water of clean chickens should be clean and hygienic, and the sink should be cleaned frequently.
Fourth, the supply of sufficient water for drinking chicken is generally twice that of the feed intake, but the actual demand is often affected by the temperature and the type of feed intake. Therefore, adequate drinking water should be provided to allow the chicken to drink freely.
